Peter studied at the University of Leeds [UK] and Pennsylvania State University [USA] and received a master’s degree in architectural engineering in 1994. He has 31 years’ experience in the structural design and mutli-discipline engineering management of large and complex building projects.
Peter is an industry leader in the design of a new generation of sports venues that are multi-functional, flexible, and adaptable to maximize utilization and drive revenue generation.
Peter is particularly interested in long-span structures and where the structure is expressed as a fundamental part of the Architecture. An example of this is HS2 Curzon Street where Peter worked with Grimshaw Architects to design the highly efficient parabolic vaulted diagrid roof. With all such projects Peter works closely with the Architect to help create structures that are elegant, efficient and are relatively fast and simple to construct.
Peter is currently lead structural engineer for the House of Performing Arts in Abu Dhabi, designed with Gehry Partners to be the best performing arts venue in the world.
He led the structural design of the Qatar National Museum and was the project director and lead structural engineer for Al Bahr Towers in Abu Dhabi, responsible for 15 engineering design disciplines.
Peter also promotes creativity and innovation through materials, use of software and construction technologies. In the early stages of design, Peter uses sophisticated modelling and analysis software to quickly investigate multiple options for evaluation.
Like the UK and Middle East, Peter lived and worked in the U.S, where he was involved in several high-profile projects with signature Architects including the Santiago Citade da Cultura with Peter Eisenman, and Renssalaer Polytechnic Experimental Media and Performing Arts Centre with Grimshaw.
